About the Foundation

IMG_0069_2

The Brett Greenwood Foundation has been created to support Brett on his long journey to recovery. Brett will make the final call on how the contributions to the Brett Greenwood Foundation will be distributed.

As a Hawkeye football player, Brett was awarded the Ben Trickey Memorial Scholarship, the Jack and Ailene Liechty Football Scholarship, and the Wallace Geiger Scholarship. Toward the end of his senior season, Brett expressed his interest in giving back to future Hawkeye student-athletes in the form of an endowed scholarship in his name. In Brett’s honor, a portion of the Brett Greenwood Foundation will be put toward a named athletic scholarship. Plans are in the very early stages, so look for more details as Brett gives us the go-ahead.

The rest of the Brett Greenwood Foundation will be used for Brett’s recovery. Brett is making positive progress every day, but the road is long and uncertain. We remain positive and continue to pray for the best.  Brett touched many people in his life — fans, friends and family — and the Brett Greenwood Foundation is our way to demonstrate the faith we have in Brett and to continue to help him along the way.

Thank you to the many people who have already contributed and to those of you who have been asking for ways to help.  Please let us know your thoughts and comments on this site.

We wanted to let you know that we’re among the thousands that continue to pray for Brett and the Greenwood family during this very difficult time.

Brett you are the man. Ive been going to Iowa games my whole life. I watched everything you ever did on that football field and Saturday when you led the swarm was by far the coolest thing I have ever seen there. As a part of the hawkeye family I am proud of you and I admire you. Keep up the hard work you are a hero to many and respected by all. I am praying for you man.

You are an inspiration to all Brett. I could not help but be moved to tears as I watched you struggle to make each step, but celebrate with a smile after you succeeded. Everone in attendance watched as you led your team onto the field, just as they did years before; only this time it was bittersweet. I hope that when the time is right, something good will come out of all of this for you; and that you are able to turn this around and make something positive that will help many for generations to come. Your foundation now has my email and I hope that I can stay in contact to help out in any way I can. Thank you for the many memorable moments you gave us, including the one on Saturday.
